Digital Survey Systems

Reliable digital instruments designed for complex research.

The problem we solve

Complex instruments fail quietly. Broken skip logic, missing constraints and untested preloads produce data errors that only surface after fieldwork has ended.

Scope — what is included

  • SurveyCTO programming from an approved questionnaire
  • Questionnaire logic, constraints and relevance conditions
  • Preloading, repeat groups and roster handling
  • Multilingual forms, structured testing and deployment

Methodology

  • XLSForm programming
  • Automated validation rules
  • Structured form testing
  • Version control

Deliverables

  • Deployed digital questionnaire
  • XLSForm source files
  • Test matrix covering logic paths and constraints
  • Codebook of variables and value labels
  • Technical handover documentation

What we need from you

Research decisions stay with your team. To deliver this work we need you to:

  • Approve final question wording, response options and translations
  • Provide the survey server account or authorise one to be set up
  • Sign off on the test matrix before deployment

Illustrative workflow

A synthetic example, included to show how the work runs. It is not a past engagement and does not describe a real client.

A household instrument needs rosters, two languages and preloaded panel identifiers.

  1. 1Program the instrument as an XLSForm with constraints on every numeric field
  2. 2Preload panel IDs and prior-round values for verification
  3. 3Run the test matrix across every logic path and record results
  4. 4Deploy, then hand over source files and a codebook
